Two contemporary homes in the city

These two attached houses are set in an established but changing urban neighbourhood. The challenge was to design new homes that would fit comfortably in this diverse context and meet strict infill design guidelines.

 

The ground floor has an open plan with large windows at both ends, providing views of the front and back gardens.  Together with skylights over the stairways, they fill the homes with light.

 

The third floor is set back to reduce its profile as seen from the street. On one side this floor is occupied by the master suite, and on the other by a home office. Outdoor porches offer mountain views.
